ZAGREB, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed and four others wounded in a shooting at the Home for the Elderly and Infirm in Daruvar, eastern Croatia, on Monday, according to local police.

Police said the shooting occurred around 10:10 a.m. local time when the suspect, 51-year-old retired military policeman Kresimir Pahoki, entered the facility and opened fire, killing five people on the spot, including four elderly residents and a caregiver. A sixth person died later from injuries at the hospital.

Among the deceased was Pahoki's mother, a resident of the nursing home.

After the attack, Pahoki reportedly walked to a nearby cafe, ordered a drink, and waited for the police to apprehend him, according to witnesses.
